Visitors sent by AI

Pro recognises 18 assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, Mistral Le Chat, DeepSeek, DuckDuckGo AI, You.com, Poe, Kimi, Qwen Chat, HuggingChat, Phind, Andi and Komo. It identifies each from the address the visitor came from, or from the tag the assistant adds to its links, such as utm_source=chatgpt.com. Both are checked, so visits are caught even when the browser sends no referrer.

What happened before each visit

After a live read.

The company’s bot fetched the page in the minutes before the person arrived. The assistant read your page to answer someone, showed the link, and the person clicked it. This is the clearest sign of a citation there is.

After an earlier crawl.

No live read, but the company had crawled the page before. The assistant answered from a stored copy.

No bot seen.

No bot visit on record, which is common for Gemini and Copilot because they answer from Google’s and Bing’s search indexes.

Complete counts on cached sites

Pro checks whether your pages are served from a cache and, if they are, switches visitor tracking to the browser automatically, where caching cannot hide it. For bot visits it reads your server’s log file every hour and, with WP Rocket, tells the cache to let AI bots through on its own.
